Hotel Sepp: The Atrium
An inner courtyard at Hotel SEPP, reminiscent of a piazza with its steps and seating areas, forms the heart of the building. It serves as a symbol of how old and new, nature and design, indoors and outdoors, tradition and modernity, as well as near and far, enrich one another. Harmony here is not created through uniformity but through the interplay of contrasts. A place of tranquility for both guests and staff.
1. New Glass and Old Wood:
The atrium is located in the modern glass extension of the building, which is lined with aged firewood.
2. Natural Stones and Concrete Walls:
Pebbles and granite tiles cover the floor, while the walls are clad in concrete characterized by fibers of reclaimed wood.
3. California and Maria Alm:
At the center of the atrium stands a 90-year-old olive tree, originating from the West Coast of the United States—just like the 50-year-old Airstream perched on the terrace above.
4. Vintage Armchairs and Designer Loungers:
The two old leather armchairs were already part of the former Gasthof Eder in 1961, and now they have found their place at Hotel SEPP. They once belonged to the great-grandparents of little Sepp the Fourth. As a contrast to these heirlooms, modern loungers add a contemporary touch.
5. In and Out:
Nature at Hotel SEPP is everywhere—outside, inside, on the walls, and even in the infrastructure. The landscape of Maria Alm is shaped by mountains, meadows, and forests. The 1.4-meter-thick soil bed of the Californian tree is covered with centuries-old oak planks. Meanwhile, the infinity pool is heated with wood chips.
The atrium at Hotel SEPP is a truly special retreat—a place of tranquility and inspiration. With its impressive 90-year-old tree and the adjacent massage room, it invites guests to reconnect with nature and recharge their energy. Whether for quiet reading moments or simply to pause and reflect—the atrium is exSEPPtional.
