Autumn backdrop at the Hotel Stein
Anyone who thinks that the last Jedermann call of the festival will bring peace and quiet to Salzburg is mistaken. Autumn also has a lot to offer culturally. Whether jazz or folk music, the city continues to act as a stage and so does the Hotel Stein.
Salzburg and culture? Of course, we’re thinking of the festival. But the summer highlight is followed by several other highlights that you can experience during a stay at Hotel Stein. The festivities are just a stone’s throw away from the Giselakai and the Stein itself is also characterised by the flair of the city, just like in summer. Sometimes it’s more hearty and traditional, sometimes the vibe is jazzy and upbeat. In any case, it’s always atmospheric.
Timeless tradition
When the Rupertikirtag takes place around september 24th and the Bauernherbst is in full swing until the end of October, tradition takes centre stage. Salzburg textile handicrafts with dirndls and lederhosen from Susanne Spatt, Gössl, Lanz and Tostmann adorn the cityscape. At Hotel Stein, too, traditional costume takes over from summer evening wear. Surrounded by folk music, you can savour regional delicacies, for example at Gasthof Goldgasse, celebrate rural traditions and venture onto one or two rides.
All that jazz
Jazz&TheCity is just as cheerful, but a little more dignified. Over several days, jazz sounds fill the alleyways, squares and historic buildings of the old town. The festival is known for its unconventional venues, which range from churches and bars to public squares. The concert experience itself is just as effortless as the music sounds. With free admission, you can listen spontaneously to the bright sound of a trumpet and to the earthiness of a double bass here and a piano painting jazzy landscapes of sound there. The evening then ends with a drink on the Stein-terrace with a view of the whole city until you make your way to the wonderful rooms and suites. Da Capo al fine, so to speak.
