Some people collect stamps – others collect rare plants. The story of the garden surrounding Seegut Zeppelin begins in 1907. On the shores of Lake Constance, textile manufacturer Gustav Gminder had a villa built for summer retreats. As far as we know, stamps didn’t capture his interest, but exotic trees from around the world certainly did – including a sequoia from California. Thanks to the careful stewardship of the property over the years, this diverse collection of trees can still be admired today. And much more. The Fennel family now continues this legacy with respect and care.
When we speak of a garden here, we are actually referring to a 4-hectare landscape park. It is characterized not only by its privacy, the 200-meter shoreline, and the breathtaking view of the lake and the Alps but also by its diverse design, always mindful of what benefits nature, the surroundings, and ultimately, people.
