The wood creaks, the stones in the sauna oven hiss and there is the smell of oranges in the air. A pleasant heaviness creeps into my body. What a day! In the early morning I grabbed my hiking boots and set off on still dewy meadows. The fresh mountain air, the distant ringing of cowbells and the view of the mighty three thousand meter peaks of the Samnaun group create a very special atmosphere.
The idyllic mountains of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis put a smile on my face the minute I arrived. Situated on a sunny high plateau above the Inn Valley in Tyrol, the region counts more than 2,000 hours of sunshine per year at an altitude of 1,400 metres above sea level. The altitude is also no disadvantage if you want to climb the peaks. The numerous mountain cableway make this hiking and family paradise accessible for everyone.

Here one is welcomed by hosts with passion. The hotel is a successful reinterpretation of alpine architecture - contemporary and yet timeless. The rooms of the Gourmet & Design Hotel are flooded with light and radiate a pleasant peace and serenity through the use of warm, local materials.
Hike and Bike
Hikers are spoilt for choice. Should it be a more demanding tour, a panoramic hike with a view of the mighty three thousand metre peaks or an adventure hike that can be done even with a buggy? A special tip from a local: "Why not hike up the mountain and then roll down again all relaxed on your bike? With ‚Hike and Bike‘ you can experience the mountains in a completely new way".
How right he is. The hike to the Schöngampalm through the picturesque Urgtal valley was quite demanding without the help of the cableway. A downhill bike ride is just what I need now. On the sun terrace of the hut I enjoy Tyrolean specialities, while my pre-ordered mountain bike is prepared at the bike rental. On a wide forest road I roll comfortably through gentle woods back to Fiss. Again and again the forest thins out and offers impressive views of the mountains. After a good hour without much effort I am back in the village and can only agree: „Hike and Bike“ is the perfect combination to enjoy the mountains.
Not a dull moment
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is known above all for its family friendliness. Several adventure parks ensure that there is not a dull moment in sight. With the Fisser Flitzer, a summer toboggan run, you can whizz through a pirate ship, an ice cave and a "burning" barn, among other things. In the Skyswing, a giant swing, you feel weightless and, if your thirst for adventure is high enough, you can even experience a rollover. In the „Erlebniswelt Serfaus“ nature lovers get their money's worth. On 15,000 square metres you can playfully get to know the animal world here in the mountains. Geocaching, pleasure hikes, paragliding, Segway trekking, canyoning - the possibilities are endless. A whole summer is not enough to experience everything.
Back at the ALFA Hotel, after the sauna, I have the last bit of tiredness massaged out of my muscles on the whirl bench in the pool. And I am looking forward to the 5-course dinner, which the kitchen team will conjure up. In the Gin & Cocktail Bar INCONTRO I will end the day with one of 100 different gins. What a day!
