The magic of the Hofergut
A new chapter is being opened at the Hofergut in the picturesque Pustertal Valley in South Tyrol. From now on, you can stay here in a modern ambience in a historical setting. Sounds like a contradiction? Not at all! The listed walls have been carefully brought up to date and now shine in new old splendour!
A book with many chapters
The Hofergut is a book with many chapters. It all began many hundreds of years ago. After many twists and turns, today’s stylish house came into being.
How it all began
It was the year 1085 when the Hofergut estate in the centre of the Pustertal Valley was still known as Ansitz Hofer. In the era of Charlemagne, special administrative tasks were assigned to so-called Houve farms. This also applied to the Hofergut, which served as the seat of the Lord of Rischon and also functioned as the provincial court of St. Michelsburg. The current Hofergut has been a residence since 1975. Today it is one of the oldest buildings in the region.
From 2020-2023
Almost 1,000 years after they were first mentioned in history, these unique walls are a listed building and have been carefully transformed into an enchanting guest house after long and careful planning by architect Alexander Huber from Berg und Tal. The historic splendour of the estate with its parlours and vaults has been brought back to life without having to compromise on modern aesthetics.
Timeless Design
The façades and interior walls were skilfully plastered with lime. The window elements were designed in natural larch in accordance with the specifications of the heritage office. Local granite stone and planks of knotty oak were chosen for the floors. And the wood panelling was made from regional spruce. The upholstery and textiles are made with light and airy fabrics. The reduced colour palette and natural materials leave room for decorative elements, consisting of ex-libris collections, art paintings from the past and collector’s items. The result is modern flats, reduced to the essentials, with maximum comfort. Embedded in a house that lets you experience history.
Pure relaxation
The doors have been open again this year. Guests can enjoy a relaxing holiday surrounded by greenery at the foot of Kronplatz in Val Pusteria with all its attractions. The house invites you to enjoy the peace and quiet, but also to make friends or spread out with the family in the spacious flats.
History merges with the new
The ground floor with its listed vaults, the two parlours and the old smoker’s kitchen with its impressive black vaulted ceiling are particular gems. We quickly grab a glass of South Tyrolean wine here before returning to the stylish rooms. The suites and flats, they are waiting to welcome their guests. The Hofergut shines in new splendour.
